López is a senior MFA in painting student at CSULB. She is a painter that is inspired by the jungle and her background. López was born and raised in Columbia. López got her undergrad while in Columbia. A fun fact about Laura López is that she is a dancer as well as a painter!
Selvática was paintings of jungle scenes. Each painting was vibrant and colorful. The paintings were very geometrical. She painted scenes of South America with angular shapes and powerful colors to grab the attention of the viewer. López discussed how her Columbian education gave her a different outlook where she began to question curriculum. This lead her to create pieces that she felt were important.
Laura López told us how she was inspired by nature, which is evident in her work. As a viewer, I was very drawn to this exhibition because of how it depicted nature. The colors in the paintings gave me a feeling of positive energy. I loved how her pieces gave nature this positive glow of energy. All the colors in the room gave the exhibit a radiant vibe. I was super fascinated by the details in the pieces. I could have admired them for hours.
